Water Hydrant Installed At Courts
The Southwest Iowa Pickleball Club is most appreciative of Bill Ringsdorf's TAB Construction efforts and donations to supply the city owned pickleball courts with a water hydrant this year!
Our Club had worked for four years to achieve this. This will allow regular cleaning of the courts to extend how long the surfaces will last and extending the life of the windscreens.
Also, the Glenwood Municipal Utilities, Wright Sewer and Water and the Mills County Board of Supervisors contributed financially to the project.
The Park Board and City of Glenwood provided permission for this donation to occur.
Our courts were initially cleaned with a water broom just prior to having RAGBRAI guests play on the courts in late July. Many thought they were brand new courts!
Thanks again to all those who participated in this project!!

RAGBRAI Visitors Enjoy Our Courts
An invitation was placed on the Glenwood RAGBRAI website page, the club’s website home page, and flyers were placed around the square.
Nearly 20 people played on our courts on Saturday, July 20. Rainy weather did not allow the courts to be opened until 1 PM. People who played were from California, Illinois, Minnesota, Oregon, Colorado, Missouri, New York, Canada, and, of course, a few from Iowa.
Numerous compliments were received about the courts. Our new water broom was used to clean the courts on the Thursday prior. It was amazing the amount of muddy water that was washed away. Many players thought the courts were brand new!
Thanks to all who signed up to volunteer! Sally and Jacque took the last shift from 4-9 PM, which turned out to be the busiest. Most groups needed 1-2 players for doubles, with the weather being very pleasant later in the day!

SWIPC Board Update:
At the annual Christmas social in December, $279 was raised. $140 of these funds were donated to the “Love Tree” and the remaining funds added to the club’s funds.
The club is now designated a 501(c)3 non-profit organization by the IRS. This means that donations to the club are potentially tax deductible.
The water line at the Vine Street courts is now moving forward.
Ten additional benches were purchased by the club and will be placed at the Vine Street courts.
The windscreens were removed for the winter and placed indoors. Thank you to all who assisted with the effort.
Pickleball lines have been painted on the tennis courts across the street from the high school.
The PlayTime Scheduler website shows that players joined a session at the YMCA 1,161 times and joined a session at the Vine Street courts 1,259 times.
A waterbroom has been purchased to clean the Vine Street courts.
