After generous donations from both TAB Construction and the Mills County Board of Supervisors, our project for a water supply at the Vine Street courts is moving forward. This will help us clean our courts to make them safe and prolong their life. Access to water will also allow us to clean the wind screens when needed.

August 1

On Saturdays from 9am to 11am, lessons continued into August for all interested members. Instructors were Jacque Young and Chelle Ringsdorf. Groups of 3 to 4 participants could select areas for instruction or suggestions were provided for each group. After an hour of executing drills, games were played to incorporate the practiced skills. No worries if a person was unable to attend a previous session; they could watch the drills and an explanation was provided as needed. Participants signed up for these lessons on PlayTime Scheduler. If a foursome of participants wanted to drill/play together, a note was added to the session.

July 25

The Glenwood City Council approved the Glenwood Park Board’s recommendation for a storage shed not to exceed $3,000. As our courts are in a flood plain, the new shed will be built on skids to allow it to be easily movable. This recommendation had been vetoed in the spring, with the storage shed at the city softball field being funding. Initially, the discussion was contentious. There was a long wait for a motion and another wait for a second of the motion. The motion did pass 4 to 1. Jacque Young, Sally Prickett, Chelle Ringsdorf and Terry Stanley attended the meeting to support the Park Board.
